If you’re planning to be 1-2mins late don’t even show up, I had to walk 30mins to get there, I woke up at 6am walked in 35 degree weather with my little grocery cart, what made me more late was a train and I couldn’t go around it. I was going to volunteer so i wasn’t asking for a hand out. I walked in,the front desk volunteer told me they weren’t accepting anymore people, I asked if he was joking, he said no sorry. He replied that he could asked the coordinator if I’d like, he did. She didn’t even turn around to look at me, she quickly said no. I have a 4 year old at home, it’s the end of the month, I was expecting a bit of empathy and compassion since these places are typically run by “Christian” people. But Nope… I walked back home empty handed. If you don’t have a car, I would suggest waking up 1-2 hours early, use gps on your phone if you can. And don’t expect any grace.

Esto no tuvo mucho sentido para mí, ya que si alguien está pasando por un momento difícil, lo mínimo que deberían hacer es simplificarles las cosas en lugar de agregar más estrés.

Lo más frustrante fue ver cómo prefirieron dejar que la comida se desperdiciara en lugar de entregársela a quienes la necesitaban. Si la intención es ayudar, deberían hacer el proceso más accesible y compasivo. Es algo que deberían reconsiderar para realmente marcar la diferencia en la vida de las personas."

There have been times when I just haven’t had enough money to get me by to feed myself and because of Gleaners I’ve been able to get through the rest of the month when I’ve needed it! The variety of foods from vegetables and fruits to sweets to drinks, meals & snacks..
Everyone at times in their life needs a little helping hand.

Make sure to have a referral by calling 211 to find out the donation days. every Saturday at Revive ministry (same parking lot as Gleaners) @ 1:00 we hold a service and after serve a hot meal and donate food to those in need. Come check us out!!!

I go here almost every week to volunteer. The work is easy and they give an amazing amount of food. It helps me and so many others out. I end up with so much food I hand it out to others who need in my neighborhood.

You can work for food or get a referral. Must be there by 7 am I think. Gives a lot of food.

Gleaners of the golden empire.is a one of a kind special place that offers so much more to it's community than just a food baskets. it's the only establishment that I've been to where I never felt judged or not welcomed. Ever. It's a place I think everyone should go and volunteer at least once. To experience the nature of true help.
