It is a shelter...provides decent meals ...and has a few resources to POSSIBLY help you with getting housing. BUT there is no real supervision here. Plenty of pettiness between the women...and before it escalates you should be able to go to a supervisor. If you ignore a fool they just get madder. If you try to reason with a fool it gets worse. This is the only thing that is told to you when there is conflict...ignore or try to reason. Sooooo there are literal fights at this place that could have been avoided...but no one monitors. The only thing being monitored is the food in the kitchen. Enter at your own risk...you are just going from one dramatic experience to another one.

They put you in with people doing drugs staying up in your room all night when you say u don’t feel save instead of helping accommodate you they tell you to find somewhere else to go. I’m supposed to be starting school and work but I don’t know how to when my roommates are up until breakfast time. They front desk people just don’t care about you or your safety the lady Anahi is really rude. It was a bad experience until this started happening. The washers don’t work so you have to hand was ur clothes and they don’t let you use good cleaning products on there nasty showers. If you have somewhere else I would say go.

Se cumplen ya 10 años de haber vivido esta experiencia en este Shelter. Las instalaciones, la comida y muchos empleados asi como trabajadoras sociales no fueron mi mejor experiencia. Pero hubo gente sensible y buena. Como indocumentada sufri de discriminacion pero no me di por vencida y luche hasta que lo consegui. Es verdad que para las ciudadanas americanas fue mas sencillo y es verdad que hay mujeres que fingian situaciones de violencia o de trata de blancas pero tambien es verdad que habia muchas otras que si necesitaban la ayuda. Lo importante es que el centro ayuda dentro de sus posibilidades con lo mas importante que es un techo, asesoria legal, terapia y otros recursos. En mi experiencia a todos nos dio malestares gastrointestinales, y la comida no era lo mejor. Pero se aprende a lidiar con ello, implementando medidas sanitarias y limpiando de manera adecuada nuestros cuartos. Donaciones nunca faltaron, hubo ocasiones en que tuve que lidiar con afroamericanas que no nos permitian obtener donaciones pero nunca fueron peleas fisicas. Hubo de todo; en donaciones, nuevo y usado pero mis hijos y yo nunca estuvimos desnudos o descalzos. Nunca nos faltaron articulos de aseo personal, ni pañales ni formula. Repito, las malas experiencias me impulsaron a motivarme a lograr los requisitos para poder lograr salir y valerme por mi misma. Fui de las primeras inmigrantes que lograron ayuda con la renta, porque ese beneficio era exclusivo de ciudadanas americanas o residentes legales. A pesar de todo agradezco que pude salir de una pesadilla. Lo que vivi no se lo deseo a nadie. Y sin estos shelters muchas mujeres no hubieran superado su situacion. Si tuviera que aconsejar a alguien, le diria que es infinitamente mejor buscar ayuda de estos shelters que quedarse junto al enemigo y seguir viviendo una pesadilla. Este no es el unico shelter o refugio. Si es emergencia y ellos no tienen cupo hay la opcion de mandarte a otro refugio fuera de Houston. Recordemos que Houston es un area metropolitana y hay mas demanda pero si llaman y no contestan insistan e inclusive la policia puede llevarlas personalmente si confirman que no tienen donde quedarse despues de que pongan la denuncia. Si tu estas leyendo esto recuerda que vales mucho y no mereces lo que estas pasando y por experiencia propia te digo que si se ve la luz despues de la oscuridad y si tienes hijos, creeme que estaras haciendo lo mejor para ellos. No hay nada mejor que vivir y dormir sin miedo. Gracias a todas las personas que brindan sus servicios a estas agencias ya sean voluntarios o remunerados. Y a todos los donantes y benefactores. Dios les pague con bendiciones infinitas.

7th of October, 2023 at 3:00-5:30pm whoever was on the Emergency Shelter shift. Gross incompetence and negligence. Lazy and no common sense. Did not want to give service let alone good service. Why are they receiving a wage or salary? Should not even receive a fraction of that money. Fire her.

Im hoping they let me add this review without any stars at all. The staff here are very uncaring for your situation. Not all of the RM's are bad. Mr. Carlos, and Ms. Paola are the most compassionate ones. The others visibly look annoyed. They have to be interrupted daily by all the families and the families needs. It's their job, and you can it gets under their skin. They will straight lie to your face about something you NEED. They have no empathy, it's all fake. The ladies at reception are very kind and helpful mostly. Theres only one maintenance man and if he's gone for the day you're screwed. Tonight my family has no shower because the light in the toilet room AND in the shower room are out! I asked if I could use the shower in the office for "in-takers/new families". RM says no, and for no reason at all. My room is Totally infested with roaches as well. I will upload photos of everything to prove i'm not lying. Whoever donates to this place without research deserves to be took. The food is crazy bad. And im not picky but geesh its bad. They do have some good days but its usually a gamble. Ive never seen pink spaghetti before. They want you to accept this treatment because they know you have nowhere else to turn. Its damn near prison, only you can leave with permission, and you can keep your cell phones.
